Weezer @ Vancouver 2005
It took me a while to realize what exactly it was rubbing the back of my leg. Something pointed, knobby even, jabbing consistently into my hamstring. A half-quarter turn of my head revealed my tormentor as he screamed out, “WEEZEERRR!!” He topped it off by lifted his arms high into the air, while simultaneously making the ‘W’ symbol with his hands. With a sinking feeling, I knew that what stood behind me could only be the sweatiest Weezer fan ever.
Two hours ago, I was standing outside on Granville Street on the steps of the Commodore Ballroom, patiently waiting for the doors to open. Standing by myself, amidst the pre-twenties fashion-aware geeks: geeks in thick black rimmed glasses and designer cargo pants.
Earlier in the week, I had scoured the magical Internet for tickets to Weezer. I found a ticket on eBay, a single, for something around $100 dollars. With only the briefest moments of hesitation, I placed my bid and waited. Two days later, I got a phone call from the auctioner and made arrangements to pick up the ticket at the show.
I was determined not to let anything stand in the way of the ultimate experience of what can only be described as emo-rock, all growed up. Somehow I had to get out of the house and get to this concert, and not just because there was nothing good on TV that night (Tuesday night is American Idol night, and every Tuesday I wonder if tonight will be the night that Paula finally admits to the world that she’s actually 13 going on 30), but mostly because this is Weezer and the chances of getting high from second-hand smoke was actually pretty good. White People Music is OK Too
My friends think I need to branch out and listen to more “white music”. When people start calling you “hip hop” then you know you listen to too much rap. I hung out with my friends from Barrie a few times recently. We listened to Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, and Sam Roberts.
They introduced me to John Mayer. He’s borderline emo-rock. Some of his stuff is alright, but I wouldn’t exactly admit to many people that I listen to his music, just like I wouldn’t exactly admit to many people that I use moisturizer. But I do try to avoid chapped elbows whenever I can.
This guy I knew once was very effeminate. He use to go around asking people (including guys) if they had moisturizer. I think he resorted to using Ben Gay when no one had any moisturizer for him to use. I always thought that was a bit freaky. But I’m not judgemental, its just that Ben-Gay smells like old people, and I have a fear of the elderly. Not a deathly fear but its up there, along with clowns and midgets.

Clasical Radiohead: A Marriage In Music
Christopher O’Riley sets Radiohead’s music to piano, creating contemporay classical music that rivals Chopin. His musical interpretation of Radiohead’s music is a creative inspiration. With only the piano as his instrument he composes symphonic masterpieces, revealing the beauty that lies within Radiohead’s songwriting and musical genius.
I ordered the CD online at amazon.ca along with Hail to the Thief.

The Day I Forgot to Wear My Bulletproof Vest
You’d think it would be safe to go to a concert in Toronto and not have to worry about shootings. But then again, I did go to a 50 Cent concert.
And there I was trying to smuggle a disposable camera into the concert, meanwhile, some bitch-ass trick was smuggling in his AK-47. It was the only time that I felt like a real gangsta shoving that disposable camera down the front of my shorts. Young HOVA, ya heard!
And I thought, wouldn’t it be funny if while standing there with my arms up, and getting frisked by Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart the camera flash goes off in my pants at the precise moment that his face is in front of my crotch.

Concert II: Ben Harper and Jack Johnson
I went to see Ben Harper and Jack Johnson last night at the Molson Amp. Ben Harper was awesome. He’s like a mix of Lenny Kravitz and Bob Marley. He did a couple Marley covers too.
There was a huge turnout which was surprising since I personally don’t know anyone else that really likes Ben Harper. I only started listening to him recently. I’m more of a Jack Johnson fan, but after the concert I think I like Ben Harper a lot more. I found myself looking for more Ben Harper songs on the internet. Mainly for the live sets; his live performances are so chill.
